Islamic Date Today (Hijri Date)

About the Hijri Calendar

The Hijri calendar is lunar: each month starts with the new crescent moon and lasts 29 or 30 days, so the year is about 11 days shorter than the Gregorian year. Year 1 AH began with the Prophet's ﷺ migration (hijrah) from Makkah to Madinah.

This page uses Umm al-Qura, Saudi Arabia's calculated calendar. Where the month is started by local moon sighting, the date can differ by a day.

We are in Jumada al-Awwal, month 5 of 12. See every month and the dates of Ramadan and Eid in the Islamic calendar for 1448 AH.
