Surah Baqarah Verse 143 (2:143)

Thus We have made you [true Muslims - real believers of Islâmic Monotheism, true followers of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and his Sunnah (legal ways)], a just (and the best) nation, that you be witnesses over mankind<sup foot_note=254613>1</sup> and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) be a witness over you. And We made the Qiblah (prayer direction towards Jerusalem) which you used to face, only to test those who followed the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from those who would turn on their heels (i.e. disobey the Messenger). Indeed it was great (heavy) except for those whom Allâh guided. And Allâh would never make your faith (prayers) to be lost (i.e. your prayers offered towards Jerusalem). Truly, Allâh is full of Kindness, the Most Merciful towards mankind.

ہم نے اسی طرح تمہیں عادل امت بنایا ہے<sup foot_note=294460>1</sup> تاکہ تم لوگوں پر گواه ہوجاؤ اور رسول (صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) تم پر گواه ہوجائیں، جس قبلہ پر تم پہلے سے تھے اسے ہم نے صرف اس لئے مقرر کیا تھا کہ ہم جان لیں کہ رسول کا سچا تابعدار کون ہے اور کون ہے جو اپنی ایڑیوں کے بل پلٹ جاتا ہے<sup foot_note=294461>2</sup> گو یہ کام مشکل ہے، مگر جنہیں اللہ نے ہدایت دی ہے (ان پر کوئی مشکل نہیں) اللہ تعالیٰ تمہارے ایمان ضائع نہ کرے گا<sup foot_note=294462>3</sup> اللہ تعالیٰ لوگوں کے ساتھ شفقت اور مہربانی کرنے واﻻ ہے
