Bismillah Meaning and When to Say It
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ
Bismillāh
"In the name of Allah"
Bismillah means "In the name of Allah". Bismillah begins actions in Allah's name, seeking His blessing on them. The full form, Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem ("In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful"), opens every surah of the Quran except At-Tawbah.
When to Say Bismillah
- Before eating and drinking.
- Before wudu, entering or leaving the home, and getting dressed.
- Before reciting the Quran, and before starting any task.
